Homemade Toothpaste

You will need:
5 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
10 drops peppermint essential oil
5 tsp. vegetable glycerin

Directions: Mix all ingredients together. you may need to adjust the amount of glycerin to get just the right consistency. Store in a small jar. I usually use an old yeast jar that I washed out. Great way to resuse what you have. I just dip my toothbrush into the paste and brush away. Minty fresh and chemical free. Also a lot cheaper than commercial toothpaste.

Note if you have sensitive teeth and gums then add about 25 drops tincture of myrhh and 10 drops of essential clove oil to this recipe. The myrhh helps with inflamation and the clove oil is a natural anesthetic.

You may be interested in my own homemade toothpaste recipe that I posted on my blog(s) a few days ago...3 slightly heaping ts. of Baking Powder (not soda), 1-1/2 ts Hydrogen Peroxide and 4-5 drops of a minty essential oil (peppermint, spearmint or wintergreen). Mix WELL in a clean jar, when fizzing stops and it hardens slightly, cap tightly.

I will post my deodorant recipe probably on Monday. It's a powder, don't know if that makes a difference to you. I have enjoyed it - I am a speaker who still gets a little nervous at the beginning of a workshop, not to mention being under lights, and it works for me.

Enjoy your blog SO much and I'm waiting expectantly for your store to open!

Blessings from Ohio...

I am interested and very excited to try it. I also would love to try the deodorant recipe. I am still on the hunt for one that works. So far, well.... I still stink. Thanks much and if you don't mind I would like to post this in a blog so that others have access to it. Blessings.

Kat-I realize this is an older post and you may have already found this out, but I've been reading that glycerine will coat your teeth and prevent mineral abosrption. Check it out...

Kelly, thanks for commenting. I did post this quite some time ago. I posted this recipe and then about a week or so later started noticing that my teeth didn't feel as clean as I thought they should. Did not know that the glycerine was an issue at the time. I will post a follow-up post. Thanks, blessings.
