French Onion Soup

Ingredients:
1/3 c. flour
5 beef bouillon cubes
7 cups water
5 onions chopped
6 tblsp. butter or margarine
Swiss cheese
French bread, left out to dry

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a soup pot, brown onions in butter, add flour and stir. Add water and bouillon cubes and boil for about 5 to 7 minutes. In oven proof soup bowls place dried out french bread*, a couple of slices swiss cheese, and then fill with soup. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
Serve with fresh fruit on the side.

* the french bread must be dry and hard (stale). You cannot use fresh bread for this soup as it is really mushy and yucky. You can slice it and dry it out in a low degree oven to prevent burning or you can slice it and leave it out on the counter for a day and it will dry out.
