Wild Strawberries

Yep, like other berries there is a wild strawberry plant. These berries are just as if not more nutritious than those commercially produced. It does take quite a bit of harvesting to get enough for a meal, but they are delicious. These plants can usually be found in shady areas on forest floors. They usually grow in patches. You can do anything with this strawberry that you would do with a commercially grown strawberry, they are just a little smaller. Happy hunting.

We have lots of wild strawberries here & we love to put them on cereal or pancakes or just sit on the ground and eat them. LOL. We used to pick them a lot when we were camping here while building our house. They're so tiny, but so big on flavor. Are your strawberries already out?
I am so weary of winter, but thankfully, the snow is starting to recede a little.
I had not heard anything about grocery store chains closing. Boy, things sure are getting scary out there. I feel so sad for the farmers and cattlemen are going out of business. What will they do now. Holly

Hi Holly, our strawberries are blooming, so I am looking forward to starting to pick. We have had an unusually warm winter and it is already in the 80s here. I am hoping that is a temporary heat wave and not an indicator of summer temperatures. It is sad about the farmers, and they just don't what they are gonna do. I have been to the livestock sales a lot lately and never seen so many grown men as scared as they are. Our second grocery store chain is in the process of closing. I think they have one more week of closeout sales and then they shut the doors for good. It is sad because those chains were some of the first in this area. We will just have to see where we all go from here. May God be with us all.
